MAJOR EVENTS BEFORE 2018
Russia will host the F1 Grand Prix in 2014. On 2nd of December, 2010 Russia won the organization of the World Football Championship in 2018 and the project already appears to be a new challenge for the Russian government. 13 Russian cities (Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kazan, Sochi, Yaroslavl, Kaliningrad, Nijnii Novgorod, Yekaterinburg, Krasnodar, Rostov-on-Don, Samara, Volgograd, and Saransk) will participate. The estimated budget is 3.82 billion USD because none of the cities have stadiums that meet the requirements. According to experts, this project will be the most expensive in the country's history and will even surpass the preparation of the Olympic Games in Sochi in 2014 with an initial budget that has already almost doubled.
To these two major events, one must also add that Russia will host the World Cup of Hockey in spring 2016 in St. Petersburg and Moscow, and the Russian and French Presidents made a joint declaration for a participation of French experts in tourism development in North Caucasus.
